Capt. Rufus Wakeman invites you to attend THE FIRST ANNUAL RIVER PALM - RIO NEGRO "PHOTO RELEASE" PEACOCK  BASS  FLY  FISHING  TOURNAMENT. The Tournament will be held at the Rio Negro Lodge located on the Rio Negro River  in Barcellos, Brazil. Your hosts will be Phil Marstellar of  Amazon Tours and Rufus Wakeman of River Palm Cottages and Fish Camp.

The event will be help the last week of February, 2002.

The cost will be all inclusive. Total expenses will be $4750.00 which includes airfare, all ground transfers, all food and beverage including liquor and cigars, daily laundry service, and entry fee to the tournament. The Rio Negro Lodge , Amazon Tours and Rufus Wakeman will not be held responsible for injury, theft or loss during the tournament.

The tourney will consist of 1 practice day, four days of competition and 1 day to fish at your leisure. 

The rules will be as follows. 

1. This will be a team tournament in the photo release format.
2. There will be two people to a team.
3. Honor system will apply. 
4. No money prizes. 
5. This is a gentleman's tournament for trophies and prizes  only. 
6. The winning team will be determined by the total length of the four days biggest fish catches in length. 
7. You will be supplied with a special board with a 36" ruler attached to the board.
8. The fish must be placed on the board right side down belly on bottom and a Polaroid photo must be taken and the fish released.  (It would be difficult to pick the winning team based on total releases because there could be over 100 releases
for a team.) 
9. The individual angler who catches the largest amount of  fish based on inches will be the individual winner. 
10. There will be a minimum length of 20 inches per fish. 
11. The teams must purchase there own film and cameras. (Disposable Polaroid's are available but the spectra system is the best. It pays to have back ups.)
12.  IGFA rules for flyfishing will apply.
     a} 12" shock tippet length.
     b} 15" tippet class length  20 lb only.
     c} fly tackle only , no size restriction on the rods.
13. Good ethical fishing will apply.
     a}  no cheating.
     b} disputes must be in writing and be accompanied by a $100.00 fee.
